Ajax 0-2 Inter Milan: Italy Prodigy Impresses Italian Press, Veteran Goalkeeper Shines Again

Francesco Pio Esposito led the attack while Yann Sommer shone in goal as Inter Milan saw Ajax off 2-0 at the start of the new Champions League season.

According to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, the 20-year-old impressed despite failing to get on the scoresheet.

With back pain nailing Lautaro Martinez to the sidelines, Cristian Chivu opted for Esposito to partner up with Marcus Thuram.

Though the Frenchman shouldered the scoring burden last night, the prodigious striker held up his end of the bargain.

Indeed, Esposito did well in possession and showed great spirit off the ball.

Faced with harsh criticism, Sommer did what he does best. He bailed Inter out of a troubled situation.

Indeed, his crucial save to thwart Mika Godts at 0-0 set the tone for Inter’s triumph.
