76ers' No. 3 Pick VJ Edgecomb Gets Dealt Injury Update on Wednesday

The Philadelphia 76ers were able to land the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, and with that selection, they took Baylor guard VJ Edgecombe.

Edgecombe has drawn comparisons to players like Dwayne Wade, Victor Oladipo, among others, when seeing his draft stock skyrocket in his freshman season at Baylor.

Now, as the 2025 NBA Summer League is in full swing, Edgecombe was. dominant in his debut as a professional, finishing with 28 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists, two blocks, and one steal while shooting 13-27 from the field in the 76ers' loss to Ace Bailey and the Utah Jazz.

This has been the only game Edgecombe has played this summer, as the No. 3 pick has been monitoring a left thumb injury.

While the 76ers look to take on the San Antonio Spurs on July 10, they won't have VJ Edgecombe after he was diagnosed with a thumb sprain.

Although he's been able to participate in on-court workouts with the team, he will be reevaluated on July 12, according to ESPN's Marc J. Spears.

The matchup against Spurs and the No. 2 overall selection in the 2025 NBA Draft, guard Dylan Harper, but the highly anticipated game between the two top picks will have to wait for another day.
